Privacy policy

For the iOS app “Dotti – Chickens & Eggs” and this website · As of November 2026. The German version is legally binding.

2. In short

• Dotti only processes what the app needs to work: your account and the data of your flock.
• No advertising, no tracking, no analytics, no selling of data.
• Photos are stored without location and other metadata.
• You can delete your account in the app at any time.

3. Account

You need an account to use Dotti. We store your email address, a password (only as an encrypted hash) and a random account ID. Your sign-in is kept encrypted in your iPhone's keychain.
Purpose: sign-in and syncing your data. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract).

4. Your flock's data

What you enter – chickens with their profile, eggs, brooding and molting periods, treatments, notes, groups, shopping notes and photos – is stored on our server and synced between your devices. Each record carries a random identifier of your app installation so changes are assigned correctly (not an advertising ID).
If you use Share with others, all members of the flock see its contents. Other members do not see your email address.
Settings (design, language, reminders, sounds), reminders and the error log stay on your device only.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.

5. Photos

You choose photos from your library. Before saving, the app removes location, camera data and capture time. Photos are kept in non-public storage that only members of the respective flock can access.

6. Feedback

If you send feedback from the app, we store your text plus app version, platform and language – without your account ID – and forward it to us by email. To prevent abuse, the server remembers for up to one day when your account sent feedback (without the text).
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in feedback and protection against abuse).

7. Crash reports

If the app crashes, it sends a technical report: error message, app version, device model and iOS version. It contains no personal data such as name, email or IP address, and no content of your flock.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a working app).

8. Recipients and service providers

We use the following processors under agreements pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR:

• Supabase Inc. (USA) – server, database, sign-in and photo storage. Servers are located in the EU.
• Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) (USA) – crash reports, stored in the EU (Frankfurt).
• Resend (USA) – delivering feedback emails to us.
• Apple – distributing the app via the App Store and TestFlight; Apple's privacy policy applies.

Where data is transferred to the USA, this is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

9. Retention

• Account and flock data: until you delete your account.
• Deleted items: 30 days in the trash, then permanently.
• Feedback: until the request is resolved, at most two years.
• Crash reports: at most 90 days.
• Server backups: at most 90 days, then overwritten.

10. Deleting your account

In the app under Settings › Account & sharing › Delete account. This deletes your account and every flock you use on your own, including photos. In shared flocks, the data remains for the other members. Data disappears from backups as they expire.

11. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability (e.g. via the CSV export in the app) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Write to hallo@dotti-app.com.
You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

12. This website

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no embedded third-party content. When you visit, our hosting provider Hostinger stores technically necessary access data (including IP address, time and page) in server logs to keep the site running and secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are deleted after a short time.

13. Changes

If the app changes, we update this policy. The version published here applies.
